Trend au courant: clashing prints

If there’s one thing spring summer 2012 drilled into us, then it’s got to be this: if it looks wrong, it’s definitely right. Prints were infectiously abundant on the catwalks this season, and even better, they were at loggerheads – for all the right reasons, of course! Clashing prints caused an eruption of flamboyance, as designers broke all the matchy-matchy rules and let run riot their imaginations.

Mary Katrantzou gave a master class in harmoniously marrying conflicting prints to create an awesome, visual feast of a collection, while Peter Pilotto and Jonathan Saunders also introduced opposing motifs, florals, paisley prints; with the former design duo bringing to life the aquatic side of things, above sea level. How very clever.

We’re digging this print-on-print, beautifully confused approach to dressing, and championing it with these select pieces at Oxygen Boutique.

For the not so brave, pair the Eyelet pants with a cool shimmer
