Indi-Beauty is Set to be the Next Big Trend

Indi Beauty
We have to thank India for gifting us with such beauty - the Taj Mahal, Bollywood dancing, pickle tray and poppadoms to name a few. But that’s not all, Indi-beauty is set to be one of the next biggest beauty trends and we’re going to tell you all about it.
Indi-beauty is derived from Ayurveda, India’s whole-body healing system, which was first practised thousands of years ago. Ayurveda, meaning ‘Science of Life’, promotes good health whilst working to keep your body, mind and spirit in perfect equilibrium. It focuses on using natural products slowly, mindfully, to create a relaxing experience for both the skin and soul. Turn your attention to the texture, smell, and movement of the application of products to become truly immersed in the moment. But before you get started, you must find your ‘Dosha’.
Finding your ‘Dosha’ is the key to unlocking the right Indian beauty regime for you. A Dosha defines someone based on their energy, either Vata, Pitta or Kapha. We have all three Doshas present within us but in different proportions, unique like a fingerprint. Not only can it determine your health (mentally and physically), it can determine you skin type too. Not knowing your skin type is often one of the main reasons why you’re not reaching your skin goals. There are plenty of quizzes online that can help you find your dosha, and consequently, your skin type. To give you an idea, Vata skin is usually dry, often dehydrated and susceptible to pre-mature aging. Pitta skin is sensitive, combination skin. The T zone is a problem area and breakouts and redness are a reoccurrence. Finally, Kapha skin is smooth but shows large pores and is prone to excess oil and blackheads.
Indi-beauty will help you care, protect and nurture your skin – whatever your dosha. Loved ingredients include oils (such as mustard seed or coconut), rose water, lemons and even turmeric. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, turmeric works wonders. The curcumin content yields anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties to help soothe redness and fight blemishes. The curcumin compound also acts as a skin lightening agent, perfect to rid you of those unwanted dark circles.
Can’t wait to get cracking? Below is an amazing turmeric face mask recipe, with the addition of a few other natural skin loving ingredients, to get you started on your Indi-beauty journey. Enjoy the ride.
Homemade Turmeric Facial Mask
A recipe by Healthy and Natural World
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon of turmeric
1 teaspoon of raw organic honey
1 teaspoon of natural yoghurt (or milk)
Preperation
Put turmeric into a little bowl. Add honey and yogurt (or milk). You can adjust the amount of yogurt (or milk) to adjust the thickness of the turmeric mask, but make sure that it’s a firm paste that will stick to your face. Turmeric is a dye and it can stain anything, so you don’t want it dripping off your face.
Face Preperation
Wash your face with running water and remove all makeup. If your hair is long, tie it up at the back. Wear a T-shirt you are not too attached to, in case it gets stained.
