World Smile Day

WORLD SMILE DAY: 2nd OCTOBER

‘A warm smile is the universal language of kindness’ – William Arthur Ward

We all know the power that lies in a smile. It’s contagious. Smiling reduces stress that your body and mind feel, almost similar to getting good sleep, according to recent studies. And smiling helps to generate more positive emotions within you. That's why we often feel happier around children – they smile more. On average, they do so 400 times a day.

And that’s why Harvey Ball (founder of the smiley face in 1963) declared the first Friday of October each year as World Smile Day

He thought that we, all of us, should devote one day each year to smiles and kind acts throughout the world.  The smiley face knows no politics, no geography and no religion.  Harvey’s idea was that for at least one day each year, neither should we.
