Despite the April showers Spring has well and truly sprung. And besides the countdown to the up-and-coming festivals or holidays this time of year also means new collections drop and you can finally freshen up your wardrobe. If there is one trend you need to be embracing besides Western shirts or boho fringing and it’s definitely yellow – or Gen Z yellow to be precise.
The kids on the block have turned there backs on Millenia pink and now it’s successor is here to shake up your style. Just like the Gen Z (those born between mid 1990s and early 2000s) yellow is brave, bold and all about those Instagram likes. Think shades of Daffodil, Buttercup, French mustard or basic household marigolds this is one colour that quite frankly will become unavoidable thanks to celebrity muses like Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Selena Gomez, so there’s no better time to challenge your look with this new turn of the colour wheel.
Yes, ok this is one colour that may be a little harder to pull off than any other but trust us when we say it’s achievable to inject it without being OTT (seriously, no one wants to look like a walking sun beam). Whether it’s through accents in your outfit, pops of colour with accessorises or painting your nails sunshine bright Gen Z yellow is a colour everyone can embrace.
The key to getting this trend right is to pick classic pieces such as dresses, blazers or that perfect structured bag for a grown-up aesthetic. Another way to looking sunny side up is to cast aside the florals and work a yellow number for the wedding season or brighten up the beach with a yellow two-piece bikini.
So, become the unexpected trendsetter of your fashion pack and start shopping those summery shades!
